Why We Like It

Designed by Nydia Kehnle and Alison Glass, the Feathers Quilt is such a beautiful quilt with a stunning design. You need this quilt on your sofa!

This stunning design is formed from columns of angular feathers, pieced together with foundation-paper-pieced (FPP) blocks. If you're new to FPP, this just might be the perfect gateway to this technique. Careful though, you might get hooked!

It's a single-size throw quilt, but it's easy to modify by adding or subtracting rows and/or columns. The quilt looks so different depending on your choice of background, and it looks absolutely spectacular in solids. Our solid bundles work great!

    Inspiration + Ideas

Match-making our Kona Cotton Solids to the Feathers quilt pattern was really fun and it was so inspiring to see so many beautiful versions of this quilt. Enjoy these digital mockups!

All of these mockups have a 12-step horizontal gradation of color. You'll need 12 fat quarters plus 4 yards of background. Our color-themed bundles are a great way to get these 12 fat quarters, and depending on your bundle choices, you'll have some fat quarters leftover - perfect for scrappy binding or for adding to your fabric stash.

Hi Karen! Yes, the sewalong was wonderful! I bet the 70" is to build in some extra length, just to be safe, to allow for any piecing discrepancies.

I missed what looks like a wonderful sew-a-long. Since you’ve been through this, I wonder why the instructions say cut 70" sashes when the finished length is 65". That seems like a waste of 4".
