Copihue Quilt: Color Ideas
Share
The Copihue quilt pattern is available at Sewfinity!
Why We Like It
Copihue is a flower quilt that looks fantastic in solids. The design is simple yet so pretty. It's made of columns of blocks with beginner-friendly curved shapes. We like that it's based on fat quarter (FQ) cuts of fabric: the throw size calls for 8 FQ for the flowers and 1 FQ for the leaves. Add in 2.75 yards for the background, and you're set!

Color Ideas
The cover quilt is a pretty combo of pinks and warm yellows, but what would it look like in other colors? Let's find out!
All of these mockups are for the throw size. To make one of the other sizes, just follow the pattern fabric requirements to get the yardage you need.
All of these mockups use 24/7 Solids quilting cotton. This fabric collection is made by Hoffman Fabrics and it's oh-so silky.
Backgrounds: It can be tricky to visualize quilt backgrounds, so we've included both light and dark colors to help you out. Find neutral colors of 24/7 Solids.
1 Color
When I did a web search for Copihue, I immediately see photos of red flowers, the national flower of Chile. If you want to make this true-to-life version, here you go!
Red = Crimson, Red, Wine, Cherry, Scarlet, Fuchsia, Primrose, Sweet Pea + Clover (leaves)
How about a blue version?Â
Blue = Navy, Lapis, Blue, Marine, Storm, Atlantic, Sky, Breeze + Clover (leaves)
Â
2 Colors
Similar to how the cover quilt has lights & darks of 2 color families, these versions have 8 fabrics representing 2 colors of blooms.
Yellow & Orange = Gold Ochre, Sunflower, Mimosa, Lemongrass, Tangerine, Dijon, Pumpkin, Rose Quartz + French Lime (leaves)
3Â Colors
How about 3 color families? This one might be my favorite.
Yellow & Orange & Magenta = Mimosa, Lemongrass, Squash, Pumpkin, Punch, Fuchsia, Primrose, Sweetpea + Ivy (leaves)
4Â Colors
And lastly, 4 colors. So striking!
Yellow & Orange & Red & Cyan = Sunflower, Mimosa, Squash, Dijon, Scarlet, Red, Marine, Aruba + Clover (leaves)
