Field Greens Quilt Pattern

The Field Greens quilt pattern is available at Sewfinity!
Why We Like It
Field Greens is a traditional pinwheel quilt, but with some color tweaks you can choose to make a modern version, too. All the shapes in this quilt are simple, it's all conventional piecing, and the blocks are a standard 6" square. It's a perfect use of 2.5" strips!
Inspiration + Ideas
Field Greens is designed as a 2-color quilt, and the cover quilt is a beautiful green and white combo. But what would it look like in other colors? Let's find out!
All of these mockups are for the medium quilt size. To make one of the other sizes, just follow the pattern fabric requirements to get the yardage you need.
5 Fabrics
The pattern calls for 2 color groupings: 15 fat quarters for "color 1" (colored background) and just shy of a yard for "color 2" (pinwheels). You can use 4 one-yard cuts to get the colored background (rather than 15 fat quarters), and here's what they would look like in every color of the CMY color wheel in light, medium, and dark values. The 4 fabrics can be similar in value, or they can be different lightness/darkness - it looks good either way!

Here are some inspiring fabric combos using a variety of Century Solids. Changing the color of the pinwheels and having high-contrast colors give a more abstract, modern vibe. Very cool to find this unexpected result with this pattern!

Another option is to use 8 half-yard cuts to get the colored background (rather than 15 fat quarters). Here's what they would look like in every color of the CMY color wheel in lights and darks.

You could also just do what the pattern says: use 15 fat quarters to get the colored background. It gives such a beautiful result. Here are some ideas with both white and black pinwheels.
