Aida is a fabric grid of open squares, made by weaving groups of threads to form blocks. Aida is a type of evenweave, meaning that it has the same number of threads per inch both horizontally and vertically. But what makes Aida unique is its well-defined grid - each square is easily seen and is where you’ll form each stitch. Perfect for counted embroidery techniques like cross stitch and blackwork!
Course fabrics with low thread counts (such as 14 count or lower) have bigger holes that are easy to see and so it’s easier to track your stitches. Finer fabrics with higher thread counts (such as 16 or higher) are more difficult to see and track, but give a more detailed and smaller stitching design.
This Aida is a blend of 50% cotton / 42% polyester / 8% linen, made in the USA, and is 14 count (threads per inch). This "Fiddler's Cloth" has a rustic look and texture with a variegated appearance.
