Sashiko 365 Book
Sashiko 365 Book
Sashiko sewing expert Susan Briscoe demonstrates 365 different sashiko patterns, one for each day of the year. Each sashiko pattern is stitched onto a four-inch square piece of fabric making it very accessible to sew one swatch every day. Choose to follow the provided instructions to make a stunning quilt, or mix and match the designs to use for your own projects.
We think this is one of the best sashiko books out there, and there are many reasons why we like it. First, there is an incredible number of patterns, so there's a remarkable amount of value in the pattern directory alone. And the compact nature of the many stitch designs make the Japanese art of sashiko very approachable to learn.
We also like how the author teaches the traditional grid marking method, which gives you a powerful foundation for customizing or designing your own stitch patterns without having to rely on a bunch of templates.
The book is extremely organized and easy to navigate: all of the stitch patterns are illustrated with a photograph of the stitched sample showing some stitches in different colored thread, next to a diagram showing the stitch direction and the order of the stitches on the grid.
